French Table

This table has taken me forever to finish.  I got the chairs like a year and a half ago and they have just been sitting in my garage waiting for the perfect table.  The table was a pecan color finish which I stripped off using Citristrip (which is the BEST) and then used Kona Stain from Rustoleum and sprayed on a satin polyurathane coating.  The chairs are white distressed with gray linen seat covers.  This one is a keeper for now at our house!

Reclaimed Wood Look

I am in love with with the reclaimed wood look right now and all things french.  I just love how this table turned out.  It has the look of raw slightly whitewashed wood but is still protected with clear coat.  The chairs are blue gray with lots of distressing and glazing and I just love the shape of them.  I covered the seat cushions with a cream colored canvas like fabric and they look amazing!

To get this look, I stripped the entire table and then used clear glaze mixed with white paint which I brushed on and then wiped off.  After that was dry I used a black glaze wiped on with a rag everywhere to darken up the wood and bring out some of the details.  Then I finished with a spray coat of satin polyurethane.

Kids Rooms--A Work in Progress

I've been slowly working on my kids rooms in between all my other millions of projects!  They are still a work in progress, but here's what I've got so far.

The Boys Room

I just finished the curtains this week.  I'm not a huge fan of sewing mostly because I'm not a perfectionist but I'm super happy with how they turned out.  They are navy blue twill and natural canvas stripes.  I saw some similar curtains for $300 which was not an option so...I drug out the sewing machine.  I should have taken a closer pic, but the rod is my favorite.  I used galvanized plumbing pipe and pieced it together.  Way cheaper than a curtain rod.  I think I paid $17 for the whole assembly.

My Daughter's Room.  I still have a lot of projects planned.  But I'm happy with the results so far.  I am so in love with teal and purple.  The four poster bed is from Goodwill --- Best find ever at $9!  It was missing it's top finials so I used curtain end caps for the tops and painted them the same color as the bed.  The curtain fabric is Joel Dewberry Fabrics and it is my favorite!  Paired with some teal PotteryBarn sheers from Goodwill.  The chandelier is also a goodwill find.  It used to be a sweet brassy gold color.  I want to find some cute shades for it and dress it up with some crystals.

Rustic Distressed Captain's Chairs

I originally planned on keeping these chairs for myself, but my house is starting to look like a furniture store.  I am so in love with the super distressed finish and the gorgeous velvet jacquard fabric on the seats.
